What Will Be Taught For This Cyber Incident Responder Course?

COMAT, a division under ST Electronics (e-Services) offers end-to-end training and certification solution that caters to all levels of employment. The services are designed to deliver an integrated training solution while focused on learning experience that is result-oriented and relevant.

This SCADA training course will provide learners with the essentials for conducting cybersecurity work with SCADA systems. This on-ramp course is ideal for ICS/SCADA engineers who are also tasked to detect and provide the appropriate response to cyber-attacks across the various ICS/SCADA systems they operate. The learning outcomes are achieved through the elegant combination of theory, simulation and practice. This will comfortably move learners from learning about the fundamentals of cybersecurity, its role in SCADA/ICS defence through to the application of knowledge by immersing them in scenario based instruction methods in the Secure Water Treatment (SWaT) test bed.

Theory – 1 day

  • Explain cyber security concepts
  • Describe the entire kill-chain of cyber-attacks
  • Explain the role of cyber security operations

  • Day 1: Fundamentals of Cybersecurity

 

Simulated Exercises – 3 days

Learning Objectives

By the end of this sessions, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how cyber-hackers compromise IT and OT systems, including SCADA systems
  • Identify common vulnerabilities facing many SCADA systems exploited by hackers
  • Employ countermeasures to protect and prevent cyber-hacking to a SCADA system

Module Outline

  • Day 1: SCADA Cybersecurity Risk, Threats and Vulnerabilities
  • Day 2 and 3: Mapping IT Defense-in-Depth Security Solutions to ICS/SCADA System

 

Practical – 1 day

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the architectural design of a typical water treatment plant
  • Distinguish the actual OT attacks that are network or process centric
  • Distinguish the actual defense mechanisms that are network or process based
